Storage Infrastructure Engineering Manager

The Storage Infrastructure team builds and manages the foundational cloud storage layer for all of Asana’s user data. The team is responsible for the reliability and integrity of user data that powers Asana’s application and other key systems like search, AI features, and analytics. The team’s charter includes the reliability infrastructure for our relational storage/databases, search systems, and processes to facilitate the scaling of data read/write patterns and frameworks to manage and support user data privacy, security, and enterprise readiness. Each day, we combine industry best practices and innovation to support Asana and solve the unique problems within the storage space. In this role, you will lead and mentor a world-class team of engineers on building software systems to manage Asana’s online storage/data infrastructure, managing the high availability and reliability of our storage technologies, and defining the future vision and strategy of Asana’s online data architecture.
This role is based in our Warsaw office with an office-centric hybrid schedule. The standard in-office days are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Most Asanas have the option to work from home on Wednesdays. Working from home on Fridays depends on the type of work you do and the teams with which you partner. What you’ll achieve
- Drive the vision and strategy of Asana’s online data architecture, and its execution
- Manage the storage infrastructure team with three engineers and its future growth
- Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to guide the team’s roadmap and prioritization, and alignment with the vision of core infrastructure and Asana
- Contribute directly towards Asana’s high availability and reliability; guide the team in relevant decision-making and trade-offs across velocity, performance, and infrastructure cost
- Help the team identify and proactively mitigate single points of failure and risks; guide the design and evolution of scalability solutions to support Asana’s customer needs and future growth
- Lead or contribute to organizational health initiatives outside of your team
About you
- Prior experience building and operating infrastructure (preferably involving storage/data) and distributed systems at scale; (preferred) familiarity with cloud infrastructure, especially AWS
- 1-4 years leading engineering teams as a manager or TLM, guiding team planning/execution as well as career and impact growth for your reports
- Blend of intelligence, charisma, integrity, and technical skills to gain the trust of your team
- Experience collaborating with other engineering teams, PMs, and cross-functional partners on alignment and project execution, preferably also with teams in other timezones
- Focus on maximizing impact, for yourself and your team
- Ability to provide valuable input to any technical or product discussion
- Oriented around the multi-year consequences of your decisions

To ensure pay is fair and not impacted by biases, we're committed to looking at market value which is why we check ourselves and conduct a yearly pay equity audit.
For this role, the estimated base salary range is between 34,833 - 44,333 PLN gross on the Contract of Employment. The actual base salary will vary based on various factors, including market and individual qualifications objectively assessed during the interview process. The listed range above is a guideline, and the base salary range for this role may be modified.
In addition to base salary, your compensation package may include additional components such as equity, sales incentive pay (for most sales roles), and benefits.
